4 Pet-Friendly Charlotte Spots to Visit
Pet-friendly Charlotte places to take your four-legged family member that aren’t just the typical big box pet store or dog park? We’ve got them! They are even better when the venue is somewhere that humans and pets can both have fun! We’ve gathered a few of what we think are some of the coolest spots in Charlotte to spend some time with your dog.
1. Birdsong Brewing Co.
Charlotte, NC has built quite a name for itself within the craft beer community. With local breweries being increasingly popular places to have a pint in a laid-back atmosphere, we thought this one in particular should make the list. Birdsong Brewing Co. is special for a few reasons. Of course their beer is great, and it’s awesome that they believe in sourcing locally, recycling, and minimizing waste.
Birdsong is also a team of animal-lovers. So far this year, they have supported more than 15 animal rescue or protection-related organizations. Their staff has 20 rescued pets and currently has three foster animals between them! Pets are welcome at their tap room, and they have plenty of seating and a rotation of food trucks to keep the humans happy too.
2. Dog Bar
The Dog Bar is Charlotte’s first, and only, off-leash, dog-friendly bar. Located in NoDa, Charlotte’s historic arts district, they have all the beer, wine, and liquor that you’d expect to find at a more traditional bar, but this is the only place where the dogs socialize just as much as the people do. This place is all about the dogs.
The Dog Bar is also a supporter of animal rescue, hosting several fundraisers throughout the year for various local and national rescue organizations. Dogs are the heart of this business.
As with any off-leash location, we recommend that you only take your pup with you if you know they are trustworthy with other dogs.
3. U.S. National Whitewater Center
The great outdoors is waiting for you! The U.S. National Whitewater Center is best known as the place to go if you’re in the Queen City and want some outdoor adventure. With whitewater rafting, paddle boarding, zip lines, and climbing, there is no lack of fun things for your family to do together. Just don’t overlook their awesome trail system! Dogs are welcome to join you for a hike or trail run. Just be sure to keep them leashed, and clean up after them!
4. Aloft Charlotte
This choice is more for those visiting the area needing pet-friendly Charlotte lodging. There are several pet-friendly hotels in the area to choose from, but Aloft is unique in that they don’t just tolerate dogs (we’ve all experienced that feeling at hotels before, right?). They welcome dogs. Seriously. Your dog will get a welcome gift.
Aloft provides dog beds, dog bowls, and a special doggie bag with treats and a toy! They also have no weight limit, so all breeds are welcome from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.
As animal lovers, we love the idea of supporting pet-friendly Charlotte businesses that welcome our furry family members, and especially when they give back to the community. Be sure to check out some of these great pet-friendly spots! We’ll share more suggestions in the future, so check back soon!
